I'm a software developer with more than eight years of professional experience building, maintaining and extending production web applications.

Most of that work has been in ecommerce and Shopify, on software used by merchants every day. It has included application development, platform integrations, production debugging, adapting to API changes and building custom functionality for requirements that don't fit neatly into an existing product.

Working with production software

A large part of my experience comes from working on the same production systems over many years.

Building the first version is only part of the job. Software has to deal with changing requirements, platform updates, unexpected edge cases and decisions made years earlier.

I'm comfortable working in existing systems, understanding how they fit together, finding the actual problem and making changes without rebuilding more than necessary.

What I work on

My work covers custom software development, Shopify development, integrations and automation, custom web development, debugging and ongoing development of existing systems.

I'm usually most useful when a requirement has gone beyond what a standard platform, plugin or off-the-shelf tool can comfortably handle.

Work directly with the developer

I work independently, so there isn't an account manager or sales layer between the conversation and the implementation.

For agencies, I can work behind the scenes as additional development capacity, alongside an existing team or directly with the client where appropriate.

My approach is simple: understand the requirement, work with what's already there where it makes sense, and build a reliable solution without unnecessary complexity.
