Overview
Power Tools is a suite of Shopify applications used by merchants to manage and customise their stores.
The suite includes apps such as Filter Menu for configurable collection filtering, Pricing Policy for creating sales and applying discounts across products in bulk, and Trending Sort, which tracks product views and can automatically order collections by popularity.
I did not create Power Tools, but I have worked on the software professionally for more than eight years as part of the development team.
My Work
My work has included feature development, maintenance, automated testing, QA and production support across the Power Tools applications.
I have also spent a significant amount of time integrating the apps into merchant themes, debugging compatibility issues and adapting implementations to individual store requirements.
Production Development
Working on the same production software over many years means dealing with far more than the initial build.
That includes understanding existing implementation decisions, adding functionality without unnecessarily rebuilding systems, debugging live issues, adapting to changes in Shopify and supporting changing merchant requirements.
Technical Work
The applications span storefront code, backend application logic, Shopify APIs and integrations with merchant themes.
My work has included developing and maintaining application features, adapting to Shopify platform and API changes, integrating app functionality into existing storefronts, debugging interactions with themes and other code, and maintaining automated test coverage.
